Sir,

As a responsible citizen of this country, where cricket is a way of life and cricketers are considered to be “National Heroes”; I find it very ridiculous and disgusting that the media is overplaying its role in the case of “Cricket-bet- ting”. Since the last month, cricket headlines have covered almost all the newspaper, thereby neglecting such a calamity like drought which is considered to be a “National Disaster”, instead of smoothening the sufferings of the people with timely action; we are pre-occupied with match-fixing allegations. This does not befit us as a nation, which is known for its humanitarian outlook. It is high time that the media adopts a more responsible attitude and gives more coverage to the drought-hit areas to create awareness among the people.
