Sir,

This to draw your attention towards the spate of protests and strikes organized by the Insurance Companies against allowing the private insurance companies to operate in India, it shows the amount of insecurity the Indian Insurance companies suffer from. The protests against privatization itself, reflects upon the working of these insurance companies, which had taken the people for granted. Then also, the amount of insurance is only 13% of the total population and the companies have been selling different policies to the same customer, rather than catering to more and more customer base. The rural population has been quietly neglected and the insurance brokers have been concentrating on the urban population. The liberalization of the insurance sector has allowed a level playing-field by all the insurance companies in which customer is the ultimate winner. The government should have taken this step much earlier, but then as the saying goes on “Better Late than Never”. The Indian insurance scenario will not be the same any more.

Yours Truly,
