Indian Environment Policy (2006) accepts and advocates Sustainable Development as its objective. It declares “Sustainable Development constitutes our national need and objective”. It conceptualises Sustainable Development in its all economic, social political, cultural environmental aspects. “Sustainable Development stands for ensuring a decent quality of life for all human beings.
It is aspired that humanity should become capable of respecting the finiteness of the bio-sphere and that neither the aspiration for good life nor the recognition of bio-physical limits should preclude the search for greater justice in the world”.
In other words, Indian view of Sustainable Development includes several national as well as global, social, economic and environmental needs. It advocates that all social, economic, political, cultural and environmental challenges being faced by the people demand that a comprehensive and integrated sustainable development should be ensured for securing peace, stability, real development, justice and good life.
