This poem, “I carry your heart with me” is a truly exceptional poem that demonstrates the depth of love between two people. As the title itself says, the narrator is carrying his love’s heart with him, so that no matter where he is, no distance could separate them from within.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
He begins the poem by stating it straightly and clearly that, he carries his love’s heart in his heart, so that wherever he goes, he feels her presence and whatever he does, he feels like he is doing for her, or she is telling him to do. He just cannot think about being separated is what is being pictured here.
He says that he does not believe in fate or fortune as he considers that anything that happens in his life, whether good or bad is an influence of her being with him. He does not require another world, or the moon and sun rising are all meant for his love to sparkle more love between them.
In the last he talks about a tree that he names it as life and the roots and buds are all special as all these are connected to the past and present and he believes that unless the roots of a relationship is strong, there wouldn’t be any buds or it would not grow like a tree that extends to the sky. This is why he says, a strong relationship is like a strong tree that grows beyond hopes and aspiration and cannot be reached.
The same is with him like holding her heart along with his, so that a strong foundation is formed and nothing could get them apart.
