Mahatma Gandhi is called the Father of Nation, as acted as the father of each and every Indian and gave abundant love to them, which only a father can give to his child.
Mahatma Gandhi was born at Porbandar in Kathiawar in the year 1869 on 2nd October. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
Mohandas did not take keen interest in the studies. He was an average student. After completing his matriculation, he studied in a college. Later he proceeded to England to study law.
He came back to India and began to practice as an advocate in Bombay. But he could not succeed as a lawyer, as it was the job of a liar, and he didn’t want to fight cases based on lies. Therefore he left the job of a lawyer and got involved in the service of his nation.
He started non-co-operation and non-violence movements to gain freedom from British rule.
Under his able guidance India became free on 15th August 1947. This great leader of our country died on 30th January 1948.
He sacrificed his entire life for the sake of his nation. He was called ‘Mahatma’, which means great soul. He was indeed a great soul.
